Presentation: Distributed Computing for Distributed Power Generation
For the past 100 years, the power grid has been a simple “one-way street”. Electric energy is produced at centralized generation stations, transmitted through high-voltage power lines, and distributed to consumers through transformers and substations.
With the emergence of renewable energy, energy storage, and distributed generation, the power grid has become a complex series of interconnected systems. In addition, the need for accurate, real-time data and analytics has become paramount.
We will explore the evolution of the power grid over the last century, and enabling technologies to tackle the challenges of a complex Power grid. How can IoT technologies be applied to the emerging “EnerNet of Things”?
Speaker: Tim Munro, Advantech Corp.
